The Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences and the Regional Office for Astronomy Development in the Arab Region held a lecture titled:
“Astronomy Education and Outreach”
presented by Engineer Taghreed A. Alkdahat, a member of the AUASS
The lecture began with warm Eid greetings from the Secretary General of AUASS, Dr. Awni Al-Khasawneh, followed by the introduction of Engineer Taghreed, who clarified the objectives and goals of astronomy education and awareness for different ages and various groups with an outstanding presentation.
Many friends, researchers, and enthusiasts attended the lecture both in-person and online. The attendees shared their unique and wonderful experiences aimed at developing astronomy in the Arab region and various scientific activities. Dr. Suraya Ayad shared the activities of the Innovation Association, Dr. Ayman Al-Nairat explained the distinguished activities of the Jordan Star Foundation in its field, and Engineer Hiba Qaddoumi gave a brief overview of the IEEE Foundation and its key projects. Mr. Ibrahim Khdir discussed the activities and methods used in astronomy education and the strategies presented to facilitate understanding and enable students to grasp and deal with scientific developments. Dalal Al-Lala highlighted some challenges faced in the teaching of astronomy in schools and ways to address and comprehend them.
