The Union seeks to achieve the following goals:

1. Work to raise the status of astronomical and space sciences and raise their level to play its role in advancing progress and developing the Arab society scientifically and technically.
2. Building capacity in the research and development of satellites to narrow down the gap in the development of space infrastructure.
3. Preserving the    Arab    and    Islamic    astronomical    heritage    and highlighting its role in the advancement of human civilization.
4. using the scientific methods to determine the beginnings of the lunar months and to enhance them by observation means.
5. Building capacity in the professional  talents’  training  to  promote space research level and development motivation
6. Study common scientific issues between Arab countries and exchange information and experiences in space and astronomy.
7. Providing scientific advices in space and astronomy to institutions, bodies and individuals for Arab countries.
8. Encourage interest in space sciences and astronomy in the Arab countries and support scientific organizations and societies in the Arab world
9. Encouraging scientific research and publishing a periodical magazine concerned to Arab and Muslim heritage.
10. Organizing and Preparing specialized, conferences, seminars, workshops and exhibitions.
11. Establishing database concerned with experts, scientists and those interested – Arabs and foreigners – in space sciences, astronomy and astrophysics.
12. Encouraging member states to include astronomy and space sciences in school curricula, Enriching the Arab library with astronomical books & periodicals, and encouraging specialists to write & translate from reputable sources.
13. Supporting scientific projects that contribute in the space-based applications to enhance the acquisition and sharing of space technology benefits to achieving the AUASS goals.
14. Cooperate with the international Organization and other Arab centers with common interests in the field of astronomy and space.
15. Establish a financial fund to provide scholarships to Arab researchers in space sciences and astronomy.
