The Eighth Arab Conference for Astronomy and Geophysics (ACAG 8)
The Arab Conference for Astronomy and Geophysics commenced its eighth edition on October 9-12, 2023, at the main hall of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research in Helwan. The conference was chaired by Mr. Professor Dr. Jadda Mohammed Al-Qadi, the institute’s president, under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and executed by the organizing committee led by Mr. Professor Dr. Khaled Zohran, a geophysics professor at the institute, in collaboration with the Public Relations Management of the institute.
The esteemed media presenter, Jehan Talaat, opened the event with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by Dr. Khaled Zohran welcoming the attendees and emphasizing the significance of the conference, which hosted a distinguished group of Arab and international astronomers and geophysicists over its four-day duration.
Mr. Professor Dr. Jadda Al-Qadi elaborated on the institute’s role since its establishment in the fields of astronomy and geophysics, not only in Egypt but also regionally.

It is worth mentioning that the conference was attended by 450 specialists and scientists in seismology, earth sciences, solar sciences, and space sciences from Egyptian universities, research centers, various Arab and foreign countries, representing 220 research papers. The participating countries included Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, India, Pakistan, Germany, France, and Italy.

- Professor Dr. Mashhoor Al-Wardat, Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Sharjah and the Financial Secretary of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences.
- A representative from the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, headquartered in Amman, which is tasked with preserving Arab and global astronomical heritage, overseeing the accuracy of time calculations, and standardizing scientific terminology related to space and astronomy. They extended a general invitation to attend the fourteenth conference of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences at the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
- Dr. Zuhair Al-Tamimi, President of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics, which promotes and coordinates physical and chemical studies of the Earth.
- His Eminence Counselor Mr. Ali Al-Hashemi, Advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, for Religious Affairs.
